aloha friends! hope your weekend was full of awesome. we slipped away from the grind for a few minutes and got a christmas tree. not just any tree. the megatron of all trees. okay, it’s not transformer big or clark w. griswold big, but it’s pretty ridiculous. i wanted a smaller one, but david and rain sold me on this giganto tree when they reminded me it would make the house smell like christmas. and it so does!
if you’ve been following our blog you’ve probably already met the awesomeness that is carmen + matt. if you missed them, you can see their hollywood bowl and griffith observatory engagement session here.
like most engaged couples, carmen and matt got married! they had their wedding at the beautiful saint edward catholic church in dana point then partied it up in the rain at their rock and roll themed reception at the franciscan gardens in san juan capistrano.
we can’t begin to say how much we love these two. they’re so much fun to be around and their love for each other is nothing short of inspiring. on one of their dates matt had carmen close her eyes and cover her ears as he drove her to a big surprise. when they parked matt walked carmen to the side of the parking structure and let her open her eyes. as she looked out over disneyland carmen began to cry happy tears. she hadn’t been since she was a child.
along with disneyland, carmen and matt love going to concerts. in fact, matt proposed to carmen during a dave matthew’s band concert at the greek theater in los angeles. you heard right, DURING the concert. mid-song mind you! carmen described it a little something like this…
“it was extremely loud because it was mid song! i do remember him saying ‘i know that you lost one of your rings, but i found you a better one.’ he opened the box and there it was. i was like WTF! in the middle of a song!?! don’t you know dave matthews is singing????? ok, no i didn’t really say that, but i was surprised. i sat down and gave him a hug and a kiss and showed the ring to a group of girls around me. i knew he felt bad though because it was really loud so he ended up re-doing his proposal in dana point next to the tree that was planted for his dad when matt’s father passed away.”
going with their love of concerts, their reception was concert themed… right down to their wedding invitations that included a concert poster, a disc of their favorite songs, and a ticket to the carmen and matt show. so rad!
the skies dumped a few buckets of rain that night, but everyone had fun under the clear tents. the whole day was a good time. we didn’t want it to end. we even did a george costanza leave behind but i don’t think the wedding will still be going on when we go back for our umbrella.
carmen was making us laugh all day with stuff like this. even with us distracting her, melissa did an amazing job with carmen’s makeup.
new suits. yay!
somehow, saying carmen is muy bonita just isn’t enough.
this is how all brides should roll up to their wedding. love old cars!
getting ready to walk down the aisle
carmen and matt light up every street they walk on
orale!
classic carmen.
the invites were awesome!
there’s no crying in weddings. wait. no, that’s baseball. there’s definitely crying in weddings. including me.
now we know where matt gets his fun side…
and where carmen gets all the love in her heart. they’re a perfect pair!
carmen and matt, your hearts are the happiest place on earth. thank you so so much for sharing a little of them with us.
