the story of kimberly and cory began with rubber.
bands that is.
it was kimberly’s first day at her new job. she was touring the office, meeting all the other employees, learning the fire escape routes, taking copious notes of the general do’s and don’ts. it was some time during her office walkabout that she first saw her future husband.
for cory, it was just another day at the office. another day of diligent work. as kimberly recalls, cory was showing the boss’ kids how to make rubber band balls.
kimberly went home that evening and assembled her tackle box of hotness. soon after that, she began fishing off the company pier, trolling for cory.
it didn’t take long for cory to take the bait.
they spent many days after work together. their love of travel, good food, beer, donuts, and each other eventually led them on a european vacation. while in europe they had the best fries on the planet (in belgium), world class beers, and one amazing day in paris that would change their lives. it was there, in the city of light, where cory served kimberly breakfast in bed, knelt down beside her, and with ring in hand said “kimberly, i love you. you have made me so happy. i want to spend the rest of my life making you happy. will you marry me?” kimberly responded with excitement and surprise, “are you serious!?”… “are you serious!?” to clarify, cory asked “is that a yes?” kimberly assured him that it was most definitely a “yes!”
every day they have shared together has been happy, especially the day that kimberly and cory were married here in san diego at the inn at rancho santa fe in front of family and friends.
thank you for having us along kimberly and cory. we loved every minute with you, from the surprise guest at your engagement session in encinitas, to the office, vg donuts, and your entire wedding day. you are a truly beautiful couple and we know you will enjoy a lifetime full of fun together. don’t forget to send a postcard from all the cool places you travel to. we love you two! congratulations!
event coordinator extraordinaire rebecca, from red letter days, kept everything on track (even when we tried to weasel a few extra minutes out of the schedule). the multi-talented claire from clairestyle was on hand to help all the girls look their best.
kimberly’s shoes were on fire! love em!
we heart kimberly’s mom! i’m glad i was there, right after kimberly finished getting her dress on, to capture this moment.
how beautiful is kimberly? in my best new york accent… she’s like buttah!
are you serious!? are you serious!? kimberly looked absolutely stunning in her wedding dress from brides by demetrios.
kimberly made no apologies to all the other brides in america for taking all the prettiest girls to be in her bridal party.
all the beautiful flowers (that weren’t named kimberly, delinah, jillian, adrienne, or amanda) were brought in and arranged by holly from holly hill floral.
and that’s the recipe for making love
meanwhile, in the groom’s room… cory, kevin, ernie, corey, and luis were acting out one of my favorite scenes from anchorman. i love scotch. scotchy, scotch, scotch. here it goes down. down into my belly.
cory was looking sharp. this is his first look at kimberly as she walked down the aisle. i adore this moment in every wedding. it never gets old.
at the end of their ceremony kimberly and cory did an african marriage ritual known as “jumping the broom.” it symbolizes the couple taking a leap of faith and entering into their new home together. it is also a reminder of the time in our nation’s history when african american’s wedding vows were not legally sanctioned. during the time of slavery it was this small ritual that couples considered a legal and bonding act. it connected them with their african heritage and gave legitimacy, dignity, and strength to their unions. in their eyes, jumping the broom meant that their union was sanctioned by the almighty. some people believe the spray of the broom represents all of us, and the handle represents the almighty who holds us all together. i like that.
red rover, red rover…
send all the sexy people on over. extra style points go to cory. nice job c.
don’t let the sensible shoes fool you. my man cory kicks in like a turbo boosta.
april made a guest photographer appearance and got this shot of the whole good looking gang.
fun people attract fun people. it’s science. everyone in kimberly and cory’s bridal party was super fun and kept us laughing whenever they were in front of our cameras.
after rotfl we gave everyone the boot so kimberly and cory could share a few minutes alone on their wedding day. you know how we do it.
flour power bakery made the awesome red velvet armadillo cake for cory (a la steel magnolias). it was a surprise from kimberly’s mom.
sippin’ on gin and shoes. laid back.
candy stations at weddings RULE! kimberly had a little help from rebecca at red letter days to put this one together.
dj joseph from just made custom event services ( jmc events ) got the party started with la marcha and kept the dance floor hot all night! cory gets all our love for dancing with his mom to “mary jane.” he’s a habitual line stepper. i’m rick james!
how far we gonna go back? waaay back. to the day kimberly and cory met.
kimberly and cory picked wedding colors that are as fun as they are, so we had to get some other ring shots that showed off the pink and green.
somebody had to take a bite out of this donut so it could make the pac-man sound.
