carol and brian met in middle school, were friends in high school, and are now husband and wife. they fell in love with each other over years. we fell in love with them the moment we met them.
it was some time during our first meeting when they said they loved all things disney. at that moment we knew. we knew the way you know about a good melon.
in fact, carol and brian didn’t even know where they were getting married when they booked us. no matter, we would have followed them anywhere. as it turned out, they chose to have a Las Vegas wedding at Caesars Palace and their reception at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas.
you’re all growns up carol and brian.
we can’t believe your wedding already came and went. it seems like it was just last month when we did your engagement session at disneyland, and just like yesterday when we did your second engagement session inside a rogue wave. kim and i have had so much fun with you guys. a tiny part of us was sad to see you slip those rings on, but a huge part of us was smiling from ear to ear. we are so so happy for you both.
i want to tell you about the most touching moment we’ve ever shared with someone at a wedding. it happened in the minutes just before you walked down to aisle to get married. carol, you were in your bride prep room and brian was waiting with his groomsmen down the hall. kim was in the lobby that was oddly quiet for las vegas. in the corner of that lobby, a solitary man paced slowly at the top of the grand stairway. it was your dad carol. as the ceremony approached he walked over and stood next to kim. looking down the aisle, he muttered “i’m not ready to let her go. i wish she was still a little girl.” kim nearly broke down right there. when she told me what he had said, my heart broke. i knew that someday i would feel that same pain.
carol, we love your dad. he’s super sweet and freakin hilarious. like father, like daughter. brian, after meeting you it’s easy to see why carol fell in love with you. you’re one of the most caring people we know and you’re more fun than midway mania. if we knew you when we were kids there would have been some epic backyard battle scenes.
congratulations you two! see you at disneyland!
here’s the story behind all these awesome disney character boutonnieres. among many amazing things, brian is a piano teacher, disney fan, and a member of the society for creative anachronism (sca for short). the boutonnieres were made with wood shards from the weapons they fight with in the sca, music sheets, and disney character pins. each boutonniere had the disney character that brian and carol thought best represented the person wearing it. i think they all turned out pretty sweet.
this isn’t the real Caesar’s palace is it?
awesome use number 472 for an iPod… pre wedding entertainment. we love lilo and stitch!
all the girls carried custom made brooch bouquets that the bride made. when we first saw them we were blown away. it took carol forever to find all the brooches and put them together, but it was worth it. she did an amazing job. she’s got more than beauty, she’s got skills. each bouquet also had a disney character pin on it that carol thought best represented the girl carrying it.
best. bouquets. ever!
carol’s bouquet is on the left below and the corsage on the right was worn by mom.
we freakin love sexy green wedding shoes by poetic license of london!
the bridesmaids had some slinky little black shoes of their own thanks to jessica simpson.
isn’t she cuter than thumper? i’m carol. that’s why they call me carol.
love this shot of the flower girl.
i never really thought about everything that happens at weddings until i started photographing them. having a backstage pass has really opened my eyes and brought true reverence into my heart for the sanctity of marriage and the bonds we all share as people.
this is carol’s dad in the moments just before the ceremony. i look forward, with mixed emotions, to the day i’m in his shoes and watching my own daughter walk down the aisle. to me, there is no greater fear, no greater hurt, than that of letting go what is most precious to you, what is part of you.
brian’s face says it all.
true love’s first kiss
there was no happier couple this day. look at those smiles. if i were a grandma i’d pinch your cheeks.
handle us? you’ll handle us? you know, your predecessors had much more respect.
no bridal party was hurt in the making of this photo
carol and brian made a stop by the high roller tables… then kept walking. have you seen what the minimum is in there? cripes!
carol and brian held their wedding reception at Planet Hollywood inside Caesars Palace Forum. we had to take a shot of one of the original uss enterprise models. notice the moon that’s in the background. we love the original star trek, but j.j. abrams remake is one of our favorite movies of all time. kim watches it more than die hard, and that’s saying something. she says it’s because she thinks j.j. abrams is a genius. i think it has less to do with j.j. genius and more to do with chris pine. either way, we’re counting down the days until the sequel comes out in 2012. seriously.
we love when couples have wedding photos at their reception from their parents and grandparents, or in this case, all their married bridal party members as well. that big picture up top looks familiar. where have i seen that before?
being the huge disney fans that they are, carol and brian had hidden mickeys all over their wedding. we put one in their guest sign-in book, carol had one in her hair, another in her bouquet, and more tattooed on her foot. we never did find all of them, but we had fun looking.
did i mention that we love carol’s brooch bouquets? they are so cool, and as an added bonus, they’ll never wilt and die.
hands free
the best part about being a grandpa is you can hand out all the candy from the candy station worry-free, knowing that the kids are going home with someone else.
the party starts now. carol, growing up in your house had to be filled with smiles. your mom and dad are sweeter than the bag of goodies rain brought home halloween night, not to mention they are both totally fun.
I LOVE YOU TOO BRIAN!
having your wedding reception at planet hollywood has it’s benefits. sylvester stallone dropped in to party with us.
above all else carol and brian, we love you for being down to do pretty much anything fun. your gamer level was certified legendary after this last shot.
there’s no better wedding gift than  junk in a box.
special thanks to justin timberlake and andy samberg.
