sometimes i like eating dessert before dinner. it’s sweet and gone before you know it, kind of like our time with marcella and cameron.
we knew going in that our schedule would feel like a scene from mission impossible. kim and i flew in to newark just before sunrise on a thursday morning, met cameron and marcella and did their engagement session in brooklyn later that afternoon, shot their wedding at the brooklyn botanic garden the next day (friday afternoon), and flew back to san diego at first light saturday morning.
before leaving san diego for new york we formulated a hypothesis that cameron and marcella were awesome. after spending two days with them, our hypothesis proved to be law, and we were trying to find ways not to leave.
cameron and marcella, you made our first ever trip to new york a super memorable one. we didn’t see much of the city (except for when that cabby took us 53 blocks in the wrong direction) but that’s not why we flew 3000 miles from home.
it was you. it was always you.
like i said in your wedding post, kim and i love the stuffing out of you two. just being around you makes us smile, so we’re gonna need to get back to new york real soon. we love how much you two are in love!
this was the first time kim and i ever saw new york city. we were on a train from newark to new york city and had all of our big cameras packed away, so i snapped this sunrise over the city with our point n shoot.
i actually snapped these next shots of new york city and the statue of liberty a week after cameron and marcella’s wedding (when we came back to new york for whitney and man’s wedding in rochester new york. more on that soon.)
on the left is manhattan, straight ahead is the brooklyn bridge, and to the right is brooklyn, where we’ll be going now to see cameron and marcella’s engagement session in park slope.
how do you do? marcella, cameron, solomon grundy.
i love these smiles! cam and marcella had us smiling behind our cameras all day. they’re just so happy.
cam and marcella took us on a walk. we were loving all the brooklyn brownstones and the tree lined streets of park slope.
game on!
there’s not a lot of real estate in between brownstones so this little girl planted a tiny garden in a patch of dirt next to the curb. so cute!
reel fun
cam and marcella almost made us die laughing. their faces were epic.
we tried our best to keep new york city clean.
new york pie is different than julian pie, but equally as delicious. just ask cam.
thanks to pizzeria napoletana for letting us use their porch. cam and marcella looked so cute together at their little outdoor tables.
being in new york and seeing these flags made us think of the puerto rican day festival episode of seinfeld. black saab rules! classic.
palo santo is the secret lair of the laser cats. don’t tell anyone.
cam and marcella, we can’t thank you enough for picking us to be your wedding photographers and for totally taking care of us while we were so far from home. we really appreciate all the tourist tips. we used quite a few of them when we came back to new york the following week.
we also loved your rehearsal dinner at palo santo. it was so awesome of you to invite us along to hang with you, your family, and your closest friends. not to mention the incredible food. that place is now forever on our must go list for all future brooklyn visits.
congratulations again cam and marcella!
a big thank you also goes to style me pretty for being so awesome. that’s where cam and marcella first met us.
